What is ash dieback?
What is ash dieback? As dieback is a fungal infection that causes a slow decline in the health of ash trees in the UK. Not all ash trees will get it, but it is important to monitor the health of your ash trees, particularly when they are within close proximity to people and property.

When is the best time to survey trees?
There are many benefits and drawbacks from surveying at different times of year. In the winter, you can assess the health of the crown for deadwood and readily spot colonisation of fungi, which may be indicative of underlying health issues. In summer, you can see how readily the tree is growing leaves coping under the weight of a full canopy. Read this article to find out more about surveying across the seasons.
